Learn about what one of our superstar clients (JaPe, age 4) has to say about ABA.
BCBA: Hi there! I’m so excited to chat with you today. Let’s start with an easy question: What’s something you really like about your ABA sessions?
Client: I like playing with the toys! And when we do the silly games, like the one with the beanbags. That’s my favorite!
BCBA: I love the beanbag game! It’s so much fun watching you. You’re really good at it. Is there anything else you enjoy?
Client: Um… I like the stickers I get. I like playing with the teachers, they are nice even when I'm mad. And when we do snack time, because I get to pick what I want.
BCBA: Picking your snack is a big deal! You’re learning to make choices, which is awesome. Is there anything about ABA that you don’t like as much?
Client: Sometimes I don’t like when I have to stop playing to do work or jobs. But then you play with me after, so it’s okay.
BCBA: I understand. Stopping something fun can be hard. We try to make sure you get a break and time to play after working on new skills. What’s something you’ve learned here that makes you proud?
Client: Ask for help. I would get mad when I couldn’t do stuff. Now I say, "Can you help me?"
BCBA: That’s so important! Asking for help is a big step, and you’re doing such a great job with it. What’s a new game or activity you’d like to try during sessions?
Client: Maybe… a slime game?
BCBA: Sounds amazing! If you could tell other kids about ABA, what would you say?
Client: I’d say it’s fun! You get to play games and learn.
BCBA: That’s such a great way to put it. We try to make learning fun. Thank you for talking with me today. Is there anything else you want to share?
Client: Can we play the beanbag game again next time?
BCBA: Absolutely! We’ll make sure it’s on the schedule. Thanks for being such a superstar today!
Child: Awesome! Thank you!
